Academic Programs

Toddler Twos

In this program, both a caregiver and the 2 year old come to our Pre-School room for 1 hour a week, Tuesday or Thursday afternoon, to enjoy a delightful set of carefully prepared activities. Our Early Childhood expert creates a family style environment for up to 8 little ones, who play and explore with irresistible materials, sing and move to rhythm and rhymes, and enjoy both parallel and group experiences. It’s a wonderful way to find out about “school.” While children play, adults can share stories and ask questions about parenting and child development milestones. The cost is $10 per session.

Our Pre-School and Primary programs are based on the Pennsylvania State Early Childhood Learning Continuum Indicators. These indicators form a continuum of skills that an early childhood learner needs in order to achieve the Pennsylvania Academic Standards by Grade 3. Enrolling your child at Queen of Angels Catholic School for his elementary education leverages the value of this deliberate continuum. We offer a continuous developmental package that builds an accountably solid foundation.

Pre-Kindergarten 3 & 4

As our little ones grow, they are ready for half-day school. Now they must be able to separate from caregivers for several hours and use the toilet independently. 3-year olds are invited to come for two half-days, Tuesday and Thursday, for AM or PM sessions.

4-year olds come for 3 half-days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for AM or PM sessions. A rich learning environment is created in our Pre-School area by a team of Early Childhood teachers and assistants. Children explore a wide variety of readiness activities in song and movement, story and rhyme, art and dramatic play. They learn social skills and listening skills and to work both independently and along with others. They learn that God loves them and created them to be His special friends.

PK-Zoom and PK- Express

These programs offer a bridge between Pre-School and Kindergarten competencies. They are a 5 half-day option for the 4 or 5 year old who is ready to be at school every day but still wants to enjoy the benefit of home time. PK-Zoom is for the child who would benefit developmentally from day to day consistency over the broader range of work. Offered in the AM, students are registered for this program based on teacher recommendation and/or parent preference. These students truly Zooooom. PK-Express in the PM offers these advantages to 4 year olds.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten builds on the successful work completed in Pre-School and builds on natural curiosity, willingness to learn with friends and developmental readiness. While play continues to be an important vehicle for learning, more activities are offered to develop fine motor skills, increase letter recognition, introduce early reading words, grow number sense, refine social skills and experience participation in a faith community. Students eat lunch at school, receive music, gym, drama and computer experiences and take a nap. For maximum benefit, we encourage full day attendance. Children may be dismissed after lunch for a half day program.
