Emergency Dismissal of School or Delay
 

Queen of Angels Catholic School follows the decisions of the Norwin School District regarding delayed opening, cancellations, or early dismissals due to snow, inclement weather or other emergency.

Parents and guardians are directed to tune into stations WTAE (4), WPXI (11), KDKA (2), for television information.

Any announcement applies to our total school, Toddler Twos - Grade Eight.

Kindergarten parents should follow this delay schedule:

  • If there is a two hour delay, both half-day and full-day kindergarten students will begin at 10:00
  • Half-day students will be permitted to stay until afternoon dismissal. They may bring a packed lunch from home or purchase a lunch ticket. They may also bring a small blanket for rest time.

Pre-Kindergarten parents should follow this delay schedule:

Morning Pre-Kindergarten
9:15 am - 10:45 am
10:15 am - 11:45 noon
Afternoon Pre-Kindergarten
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
The sessions will run 1 and 1/2 hours

Please follow the announcements of the districts where you reside. If your district closes or announces a delay, your child will not be marked absent or tardy.

If a district closes early in the day, the district announces the early dismissal over the radio and Queen of Angels students are released when their transportation arrives. Because of the number of incoming calls from districts and carriers, it is impossible to notify parents regarding each carrier's departure time. Parents or guardians are directed not to call the school for such information.
