Homework/Assignments

You can expect your child to have a weekly reading log and spelling words to practice each week. Work in math will also be given as needed. In addition to this, there are times when larger "projects" will be assigned. You will be well informed as to the expectations for these larger assignments as they develop.

Reading logs are assigned on Monday to be turned in on Friday each week. Other assignments are due the next day unless otherwise noted with the assignment. Larger projects will be assigned with a due date given at that time.

Homework is seen as a practice in responsibility as well as a practice of skills. For this reason I will initially allow students to return homework 1 day late. However, chronic incompletion of assignments will eventually lead to a student missing recess to complete them. You will be notified if this is an issue with your child. As the year progresses and the children grow in their ability to take responsibility, I will retract the "1 day late" option.
