Awareness of God
· Identifies self as Catholic
· Describes the Church as a community of loving and caring people who believe Jesus and accept His teachings
· Acknowledges the Risen Christ as active in our world through the work of the Holy Spirit
· Explains the hope of Christians as the final reunion with God forever
· Identifies the Trinity as the God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit
· Recall that he/she becomes a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist – sacraments of Initiation
· Describes Jesus’ presence in the Church through the Holy Spirit and the sacraments
· Explains that Jesus’ followers are called “Christians”
· Explains that the Ten Commandments are God’s Laws which teach us how to relate to God and one another

· Describe the Church as carrying on the ministry of Jesus, e.g. teaching, celebrating, healing and serving
· Describes the role of priest in the Church (teaching, sanctifying, governing)
· Describes the role of lay women and men in the Church
· Describes the role of religious women and men in the Church
· Recalls the Church has leaders e.g. pope, bishops, priest, and deacons
· Describes their role in the church to participate in mass, prayer services and daily prayer
